Dr. Kate Shoults is a community general internist who practices both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine on the North Shore. She completed her undergraduate education at McGill University and attended UBC medical school and residency.
Dr. Shoults is involved in quality improvement and helping run the Perioperative Internal Medicine Service. She is passionate about medical student and resident education, through formal teaching activities or by having trainees working alongside her. In addition, Dr. Shoults does both medico legal work and is an assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons, focused on quality of care. She organizes Grand Rounds for Lions Gate Hospital.
Outside of work, she can be found running in the trails, swimming in the ocean or adventuring with her friends and family.

Dr. Mellor practices as a General Internist at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). Her clinical focus is on metabolic syndrome, including the management of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity. She practices primarily outpatient medicine at the VGH Hypertension, General Internal Medicine, and CARES Clinics. In addition to her outpatient practice, she works as an inpatient attending on the Clinical Teaching Unit and with the Hospital at Home program. She is a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Department of Medicine.
Dr. Mellor completed medical school at the University of Toronto before moving to Vancouver to complete her core internal medicine residency and general internal medicine fellowship at UBC. She has completed focused training in the diagnosis and management of endocrine hypertension at the University of Calgary. Her clinical and research interests are in hypertension and primary aldosteronism. She collaborates with colleagues across the country on research and quality improvement initiatives in primary aldosteronism.

Dr. Nazli Baradaran is a general internal medicine specialist and clinical assistant professor at UBC. She is also an American hypertension society clinical specialist and a consultant at St. Paul’s Hospital hypertension and internal medicine vascular disease clinics. Additionally, she works on the inpatient services at St. Paul’s and Mount Saint Joseph’s Hospitals and is involved with medical students and resident teachings primarily on CTU service at SPH. She holds a Masters degree in clinical epidemiology and is involved in various quality improvement/strategic planning and academic committees such as internal medicine residency committee at Providence Health Care.

Dr. Windt practices as a General Internist at Vancouver General Hospital on the Clinical Teaching Unit, Internal Medicine Perioperative Care Team, and in the outpatient General Internal Medicine Clinic. He is a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Department of Medicine.
Dr. Windt is originally from Vancouver and completed his medical school, core internal medicine residency, and general internal medicine fellowship at the University of British Columbia. During his fellowship training, he completed a joint perioperative fellowship program between the University of British Columbia and McMaster University. His clinical interests include preoperative medical optimization and the identification and management of postoperative medical complications to support his patients’ long-term health.

Dr. Geoffrey Walton practices full-time at Lions Gate Hospital as both a General Internal Medicine specialist and Addiction Medicine specialist. He provides inpatient and outpatient (private office based) care in Internal Medicine and inpatient care in Addiction Medicine as part of the Substance Use Assessment Team that he was involved in forming.
Dr. Walton was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia but moved out west at age 9 before his family settled in Comox, BC. He did undergraduate training in Chemistry at the University of Victoria, then moved to Vancouver for Medical School. He has lived in the Lower Mainland ever since and has been practicing at Lions Gate Hospital since 2018. He enjoys the access to nature and community that is available in North Vancouver, and after practicing here for some years now lives here with his family including his wife, daughter and dog. He spends as much time with them and his friends as he can. He enjoys running and fitness, he has run several marathons and Hyrox (but he never talks about it).
Dr. Walton is committed to clinical service provision and education. He is actively involved teaching Medical Students and Residents in both of his specialties. He organizes M&M rounds within his Internal Medicine group.

Dr. Paul Hertz practices full-time at Lions Gate Hospital, where he is currently the Division Head of Internal Medicine, providing inpatient and outpatient care.
Born and raised in Thornhill, Ontario, he completed his undergraduate degree at York University and his medical degree at Queen’s University before relocating to British Columbia to complete his core Internal Medicine residency at UBC. Inspired by the West Coast lifestyle and mountain environment, he established his clinical practice on the North Shore, where he continues to live and work.
Dr. Hertz has a strong interest in physician health systems. He is actively involved with Doctors of BC through several committees related to physician billing & audit processes (including the Patterns of Practice Committee) and also teaches billing and practice management to GIM fellows (and staff physicians as well!).
In addition, Dr. Hertz is deeply committed to physician advocacy and professional leadership. He is the current President of the Society of General Internal Medicine of British Columbia (SGIM BC), where he works to advance the interests of General Internists and improve recognition, remuneration and patient care across the province.

Dr. C Taylor Drury is a general internal medicine and thrombosis physician. He completed his undergraduate medical degree at Queen’s University, and subsequently his internal medicine residency and general internal medicine fellowship at UBC. Prior to medical school he completed a Masters in Experimental Medicine at UBC focusing on the cardiovascular physiology of high performing athletes for which he was awarded the UBC Governor General’s Gold Medal. During his GIM fellowship he completed an adult clinical thrombosis fellowship split between UBC and the University of Ottawa.
Dr Drury is currently a Clinical Instructor at UBC Faculty of Medicine, working primarily at St Paul’s Hospital. His time is primarily divided between the internal medicine inpatient clinical teaching units and the St Paul’s Hospital thrombosis clinic/consultation service.
Research and Quality Improvement
Dr. Drury is actively involved in research and quality improvements projects. In particular, he was a co-founder of the highly successful Anticoagulation Stewardship Program at St Paul’s Hospital, a program that was awarded the 2025 PHC Innovarium Mission Award.

Dr. Manhas practices at St Paul’s Hospital where he works as a General Internal Medicine Physician on the Clinical Teaching Unit and the inpatient and outpatient Thrombosis Service. He is a clinical instructor in the department of medicine at UBC.
He completed his MD undergraduate degree at the Northern Medical Program, and his core internal medicine and General internal medicine fellowship at UBC. He completed further training in Thrombosis both locally at UBC and in Ottawa.
Dr. Manhas has a particular interest in thromboprophylaxis in malignancy and hopes to work with the outpatient clinics in the future to develop an algorithm to help screen and manage these patients.

Dr. Moller practices at Vancouver General Hospital, working as a General Internist on the Clinical Teaching Unit. He has a special interest in Perioperative Medicine and practices both in- and outpatient medicine as part of the Internal Medicine Perioperative Care Team (IMPCT). He is currently the lead for the IMPCT post-discharge clinic, which provides timely follow up for post-operative patients and longitudinal training opportunities for GIM fellows. He is a clinical instructor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Moller completed his undergraduate medical degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, before moving to British Columbia to complete his internal medicine residency and fellowship training in Vancouver. During fellowship, he completed one year of dedicated perioperative internal medicine training.

Dr. Jonathan Williams is a General Internal Medicine specialist and UBC Clinical Instructor at Royal Columbian Hospital. He practices full scope Internal Medicine working on the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU), the inpatient perioperative medicine consultation service (PROACT), and the outpatient Rapid Access Internal Medicine Clinic (IMOC). He also works at Vancouver General Hospital on the inpatient perioperative medicine consultation service (IMPCT).
Dr. Williams completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at Western University, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of British Columbia and fellowship in General Internal Medicine at the University of Calgary. During his fellowship, he completed additional training in Perioperative Medicine completing the Perioperative Vascular Medicine Training Program at McMaster University and University of British Columbia.
Dr. Williams has a strong focus on perioperative medicine and medical education. He is actively involved in training the next generation of physicians while providing comprehensive care to his patients. His clinical and academic interests center on optimizing perioperative care, quality improvement and advancing patient-focused internal medicine.
When he isn’t working, he enjoys traveling, hiking and exploring different cuisines.
