Bio

Tristen Gilchrist is a General Internal Medicine specialist at VGH and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at UBC. He completed medical school and residency at UBC. He completed a Clinical Educator Fellowship at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship at UBC and received a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

In addition to clinical work at VGH, St. Paul’s, and beyond, Dr. Gilchrist is engaged in education research and enjoys being active in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching with UBC. He is a member of the GIM Fellowship Competency Committee.

Research

Dr. Gilchrist’s research relates to competency-based medical education, specifically the act of entrustment and its interplay with the help-seeking behaviours of trainees.
