Bio

Dr. Jian Weng completed her undergraduate studies, medical school, Core Internal Medicine residency, and General Internal Medicine fellowship at the University of British Columbia. She has been mentored by Dr. Nadia Khan and Dr. Karen Tran, with a clinical and academic focus on metabolic syndrome, including the management of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity.

Dr. Weng currently practices at St. Paul’s Hospital in the Vascular Medicine, Hypertension, and General Internal Medicine clinics. She is also involved in the Vancouver General Hospital Hypertension Clinic, CARES, and the MSI Teaching Clinic. She is a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Division of General Internal Medicine. In addition to her outpatient practice, she works as an inpatient attending on the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) at both Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital.

Her research interests include hypertension and primary aldosteronism, and she is currently completing the Practice-based Learning and Quality Improvement (PLQI) program.

Dr. Jordyn Thompson

Dr. Thompson completed her MD undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta and relocated to BC to complete her core internal medicine residency, followed by a fellowship in general internal medicine. As part of her GIM fellowship, she completed one year of training in adult thrombosis medicine at UBC, graduating as the first UBC thrombosis medicine AFC candidate in 2025. She has recently joined the Division of Internal Medicine as a General Internist on the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) and Thrombosis Specialist in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Dr. Yu Chiao Peter Chen

Bio

Dr. Chen is a Clinical Instructor in UBC’s Division of General Internal Medicine. He completed his medical training including his MD, Internal Medicine Residency, and General Internal Medicine fellowship at UBC. He has a special interest in perioperative medicine, and completed the Perioperative Vascular Medicine training program at McMaster University.

Dr. Chen spends his clinical time on the inpatient Clinical Teaching Units at St. Paul’s Hospital, as well as the Perioperative Medicine consult service at both  St. Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. He also participates in outpatient clinics at the SPH Internal Medicine Vascular Clinic focusing on optimization of risk factors in patients with vascular disease.

Dr. Jassy Meng is an attending physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Vancouver General Hospital. Originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of New Brunswick before earning her medical degree at McGill University, where she also completed her Internal Medicine residency and General Internal Medicine fellowship.
Dr. Meng is based at Vancouver General Hospital and also holds privileges at St. Paul’s Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital. Her clinical practice spans inpatient and outpatient General Internal Medicine, with particular involvement in the General Internal Medicine Oncology Clinic, a collaborative service supporting patients with complex comorbidities undergoing cancer treatment through Vancouver Coastal Health and BC Cancer. In this role, she works closely with oncology teams to optimize medical stability, manage multimorbidity, and address treatment-related complications to support continuity of care.
She is also actively involved in teaching medical students and residents and maintains a strong interest in clinical education and mentorship.

Dr. Sabina Freiman practices General Internal Medicine on the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) at St. Paul’s Hospital. She is also working as a locum physician at BC Women’s Hospital, where she works in Obstetric Internal Medicine in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

She completed her MD Undergraduate degree at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and General Internal Medicine fellowship at UBC. Her fellowship included a year of Obstetric Medicine training at UBC, the University of Alberta, and McMaster University.

Dr. Stefany Morrison

Dr. Stefany Morrison is a General Internal Medicine specialist at both Saint Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital, where she works on the Clinical Teaching Unit and as a member of the Internal Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) service.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Manitoba, followed by Internal Medicine residency training at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and fellowship training in General Internal Medicine at McGill University. Following fellowship, she received her Master of Education, Concentration in Health Profession Education from the University of Ottawa.

At UBC, Dr. Morrison serves as the CBME Lead for the Core Internal Medicine Program, the Medical Education Lead for the UBC Internal Medicine POCUS service, and a member of the UBC Internal Medicine Competence Committee.

Dr. Morrison’s academic interests include curriculum development and program evaluation.

Dr. Matthew Brooks

Dr. Matthew Brooks is a General Internist who attends CTU at both St Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. He completed his MD and core Internal Medicine training at the University of Ottawa. He went on to complete his General Internal Medicine fellowship at UBC.

He completed his Clinical Educator Fellowship at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES) at UBC and his Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the UBC Division of General Internal Medicine.

Research

Dr. Brooks’s research interests are within the field of medical education. These include self regulated learning, reflective learning and motivation in teaching.

Dr. Natasha Qureshi

Dr. Natasha Qureshi practices full-time at Vancouver General Hospital in both outpatient and inpatient General Internal Medicine. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at UBC.

Dr. Qureshi completed her MD Undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in the Island Medical Program, core Internal Medicine at the University of Calgary, and General Internal Medicine fellowship at the University of McGill. 

Dr. Qureshi has a particular interest in Medical Education, having undertaken the Master of Education in the Health Professions program through Johns Hopkins University. She is currently the Ambulatory Site Lead for UBC medical students rotating through the Medicine Ambulatory clinics at VGH, and is involved with leading strategic plan initiatives in this domain at VGH.

Dr. Brian Hwanki Kim

Brian Kim is a General Internal Medicine (GIM) specialist based in Vancouver, BC. He maintains a mixed inpatient and outpatient clinical practice primarily situated at VGH, and part time at Providence Health (SPH and MSJ). He is dedicated to providing holistic care for patients living with complex medical co-morbidities. He established the GIM Oncology Clinic wherein he provides comprehensive review and optimization of acute and chronic medical conditions for patients undergoing oncologic (cancer) treatment. 

Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate studies and medical school training at the University of Toronto; followed by core Internal Medicine residency and GIM fellowship at the University of British Columbia. He subsequently completed the Clinical Educator Fellowship at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES) at UBC and is completing a Master of Health Profession Education (MHPE) at Maastricht University.

Dr. Kim has a strong focus in medical education. He serves as the VGH Discipline Specific Site Lead and oversees the assessment of medical students who are completing their internal medicine training at VGH. HIs medical education research explores the interpretation and navigation of written feedback from the learner’s perspective.

Dr. Tyler Raycraft

Dr. Raycraft is a General Internal Medicine Specialist working on the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). In addition, he practices full scope outpatient internal medicine in the Internal Medicine Rapid Access and CARES Clinics at VGH. Educationally, he is the Associate Program Director for Curriculum for UBC’s Internal Medicine Residency and serves as the Head of CTU Redesign for the Division of General Internal Medicine.

He completed his MD at UBC’s Vancouver Fraser Medical Program, followed by core internal medicine residency at the University of Toronto, and General Internal Medicine fellowship at UBC. He then completed UBC Centre for Health Education Scholarship’s Clinical Educator Fellowship program and Maastricht University’s Master of Health Professions Education, where his thesis focuses on the transformation of Clinical Reasoning as Internal Medicine learners transition from residency/fellowship to independent practice.

Clinically, he is passionate about clinical pharmacology, rational medication use, preventing drug-related harm, post-hospitalization follow-up, and longitudinal care for patients with complex disease. 

Outside the hospital, Tyler loves to cook, compete in battles of will with his stubborn 7-month old daughter, hopelessly attempt to train his dog, play golf (poorly), and daydream about the Canucks finally winning a Cup.
