Bio
Dr. Iain McCormick has been a member of the UBC Division of General Internal Medicine since 2007. He was CTU director at VGH, and is currently the site lead for Internal Medicine at VGH. He has been an examiner for the Royal College Internal Medicine Board since 2012.
Research
- Effects of team scheduling and patient handover on care
- Influence of competing mortality on expected benefit of common, guideline-based pharmacologic interventions
Dr. McCormick’s research focus is in quality improvement of patient handover between the ED and the ward. He is currently working with the SFU Assessment of Technology in Context Design Lab to obtain qualitative data about handover processes, hits, and misses.
Teaching
Dr. McCormick acts as a clinical teacher on the CTU and in the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic.
