Dr. Liam Brunham awarded a Canada Research Chair

Congratulations to GIM Division member Liam Brunham, who has been awarded a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Precision Cardiovascular Disease Prevention. Dr. Brunham is an Assistant Professor in the UBC Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, and a principal investigator at the UBC Centre for Heart Lung Innovation. Dr. Brunham oversees a research group that focuses on genetics of cardiovascular disease and pharmacogenetics.

The Canada Research Chairs Program invests approximately $265 million per year to attract and retain some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds. Chairholders aim to achieve research excellence in engineering and the natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Tier 2 chairs are tenable for 5 years, renewable once, and are for are for exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to lead in their field.
