GIM Professor and Division Head Dr. Anita Palepu will provide strategic leadership for over 120 academic faculty and 800 clinical faculty in her appointment as Head of UBC’s Department of Medicine, effective September 1, 2019.
Dr. Palepu has impressive clinical and research experience and leadership. She is the Physician Program Director for the St. Paul’s Hospital Medicine Program and works as a General Internist.
Dr. Palepu conducts her research at the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences and has a research program that falls under the broad umbrella of urban health research, with particular interest in vulnerable populations such as homeless persons and drug users. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the inaugural recipient of the Graydon Meneilly Award for Excellence in Mentoring in 2017 and the UBC Department of Medicine Master Teacher Award in 2015.
