Dr. Nadia Khan receives award, lectureship

Division Head Dr. Nadia Khan was the 2019 visiting lecturer for the Anand and Saroj Aggarwal South Asian Heart Health Endowed Lectureship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Nadia’s lecture, titled “South Asian Ethnicity and Cardiovascular Disease: Across the Spectrum of Care,” was presented on October 21.

“It was a privilege to host Dr Nadia Khan today, Anand & Saroj Aggarwal South Asian Heart Health Endowed Lecturer, as she discussed the impact of #ethnicity & sex on #cardiovascular disease, risk factors and disease management in the South Asian population. Absolutely inspiring!” said the University of Ottawa Heart Institute on Twitter.

Nadia was also the recipient of a Top Paper Award in Hypertension in Population Science for her research paper, Effect of Lowering Diastolic Pressure in Patients With and Without Cardiovascular Disease: Analysis of the SPRINT (Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial) from the American Heart Association (AHA). Nadia was presented with her award at the AHA meeting in New Orleans in November 2019.
